The infant mortality rate in Oregon for Black infants is nearly twice as high as that of white infants. Black women consistently face discrimination in healthcare and have historically been marginalized from the midwifery movement. ICTC organizes the power of Black women to increase the number of Black midwives in Oregon and to eliminate health disparities in the Black community.
